State Bank of Oregon

To me, a state bank should provide services for all of the different government agencies that exist. Think of all of the money that those entities tend to have on hand (between receipt and spending of it). Moving it out of big commercial banks and being able to use the float to invest in good things would be huge.

One example could have been the Oregon Convention Center headquarters hotel project, which sold upon completion for far more than what the private parties put into it. Having the state bank fund it (under the agreement that the funds would be repaid by selling it upon completion) would have reduced the subsidy needed.
